Ray Hurtado

Member, Board of Directors

I am retired Associate Vice President of Program Management for McKesson Corporation the San Francisco-based distribution and technology company with more than 37,000 employees ranked 14th on the Fortune 500. My focus is within the Health Solutions group one of their two core business segments. I have deep and extensive experience in healthcare informatics including full cycle applications development using disciplined project management methodologies for large scale, complex projects. With more than 17 years at McKesson, I have managed functional teams in product management, software development, finance and operations.

Prior to entering the healthcare domain, I was a principal in a management consultancy specializing in employee relations and organizational development. I also created and ran a small manufacturing company.

I became familiar with systems thinking and design methodologies through Russell Ackoff whom I met in 2006. His approach changed my thinking and practice, and when one of my associates was looking to redesign a key aspect of the McKesson business, I arranged a consulting assignment led by Dr. Ackoff and including Dr. Pourdehnad. While this was 8 years ago, colleagues continue to discuss how this project altered their thinking and the nature of how we approach and try to solve problems today.

My education includes earning a BA in Management Science from Duke University.
