Venard Scott Koerwer

I am an entrepreneur in education and business. I have been involved in three startups and numerous program development initiatives working with world-class organizations, executives, faculty, staff and students to develop and implement programs in Africa, Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and the United States. I currently serve as the Vice President for Strategy & Planning at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, where I am also the founding dean of the Graduate School, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, and a member of the faculty.

I previously served as the 21st President of Newberry College; Deputy Dean and Clinical Professor of Management at The Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina; Associate Dean of Professional Programs (MS, MBA, executive degree and certificate programs) & Student Services at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland; and as a Senior Director in the Executive Education Division of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

A lifelong learner, I have participated in multiple executive education programs. I am an alumnus of the Kellogg School of Management's Advanced Executive Program (AEP); Harvard Institute for Education Management (IEM); Population Health Academy at Thomas Jefferson University School of Population Health; Academy for Innovative Education Leadership at Arizona State & Georgetown Universities; and I earned a certificate in organizational development from the National Training Labs.

I hold a BA from Muhlenberg College, master's degree in government from Lehigh University, doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania, and I earned a PhD in Complex Systems Leadership at Thomas Jefferson University.
